Time for Change

2024 was certainly an interesting year, which started really badly and somehow managed to get worse! Thankfully with some stability and a bit of hard work, the last six months have been much more enjoyable and the business returned to where it was 18 months ago.

Although it won’t go down as my most successful year ever, I can never resist a challenge and have weirdly enjoyed the whole experience. It’s forced me to look at everything that I do and how that works or not, going forward.

The one thing that has become more apparent despite my denial, is age and more importantly injuries related to it. Cardio is not a problem, I still train really hard and my ego tells me that it’s better than most half my age…which I will happily stand by.

Injuries, especially hands and shoulders from doing pads, are now starting to become a problem. Although everything is manageable at the moment, realistically they are not going to get any better and if I carry on the same, only get worse.

So unfortunately, from January I have decided to reduce my availability for pad work, from 35 sessions per week to 18. The reduction will also mean that my available times will change to early morning and weekday evenings only.

I appreciate that this will impact virtually everyone that currently trains with me but prevention is always my preferred approach, rather then cure…especially as cure isn’t an option on this one.

Thankfully it’s not all doom and gloom because that’s not an option either. I will be investing the additional time in new ventures, both inside and out of the fitness industry but without the impact on the body.

MyPTMentor has steadily grown with the online work and keeps the business mind active. There’s no doubting both gyms and PTs desperate need some sort of business help in Malta, so the additional time will be spent developing further.

I am also going to be returning to my weight loss groups, with the return of Fat Fighters in January. I used to run these groups on a daily basis in the UK and again, it’s desperately needed in Malta…apologies and all that

Obviously in an ideal world, I would carry on as I am now until it’s time to check out but reality is that I can’t. Clearly it will leave a few people frustrated but hopefully everyone will understand why and appreciate the honesty, instead of me having to dilute the service.

I have discussed the changes with those that trained this week and will message others, over the coming days.

Enjoy the break!
